David Archuleta Attends Operation Kids Lifetime Achievement Awards

On Saturday, October 11, 2008 an audience of more than 800 guests gathered at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City to join Operation Kids in presenting the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award to John Walsh. Through his work on America’s Most Wanted, he has been responsible for bringing more than 1,000 criminals to justice. In addition, John was instrumental in the creation of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, and has led the charge on Capital Hill for tougher legislation protecting kids, including the passage of “Adam’s Law.”

Proceeds from the event will benefit three great organizations including the McGruff logoNational Center for Missing & Exploited Children.ICAC logoIn connection with the Gala, Operation Kids will also launch a month-long children’s safety campaign.

The following comes from The Ford Family Blog

Lance and I were invited by my wonderful parents to a black tie event. It was so fun to get dressed up! It was the Lifetime Achievement Awards event given by Operation Kids, a nonprofit organization. The award was given to John Walsh (America’s Most Wanted host). The night was AMAZING! The host for the night was the President from 24. (I don’t know his real name :)) It was so fun to see him in person cause I am a die hard fan of 24. The night started off with a delicious dinner and great entertainment. The award was given to John Walsh and then they asked everybody at their tables to fill out their cards to donate to the Operation Kids Foundation….

The night finished off with the country artist Collin Raye and also a few songs by Jim Brickman. AND THEN….. they announced that David Archuleta was in the audience. Oh my gosh, I love that kid! And to my amazement I looked up and he was at the table right in front of us. Hello how did I miss him. So I had to get a picture. A very memorable night for Lance and I.

“PRETTY SURE DAVID IS JUST AS CUTE IN PERSON AS ON TV. HE WAS SO CUTE WHEN LISA AND I ASKED FOR A PICTURE, HE DID HIS LITTLE SHY SMILE THING AND KIND OF LAUGHED. I WAS GLAD WE WENT OVER AND GOT A PICTURE WHEN WE DID CAUSE RIGHT AFTER THE EVENT ENDED HE BOOKED IT OUT OF THERE WITH HIS DAD. THANKS FOR THE PICTURE LITTLE ARCHY!!!”

Looks like someone forgot their black tie. 😉

  1. David – Very nice invite and acknowledgement. But you must know, black tie does not mean you can be seen in a t-shirt even if you are The DA. You look very mature and handsome in the tuxes I have seen you in anyway. Hope someone gives you good advice on these matters.

  2. Oh it was cool that his presence was acknowledged but I agree with Marcia on the black tie.

  3. My best guess is David probably got the last minute invite from O.K. after he’d already left for the Rays game in Florida and all his formal wear was back in California. SLC might have been an unscheduled stop for the awards event and he probably didn’t have time to rent a tux. Since is was for charity I imagine David would rather have shown up under-dressed than to have not shown up at all.

  4. This is awesome he was able to attend this event..David is truly an awesome person…

I am also glad he was able to be home, even if it was for a quick stop..

  5. David –
In case you or someone you know reads this –
Sorry, I think I was a little harsh in my comment – first one.
All is meant to say was, you probably can’t believe it, but you have become a public figure and get recognized and acknowledged all over the place now. You are probably blown away and had no idea this was going to heppen – let alone so fast!!
I don’t know how you feel about all this, but this is reality for you now. Congratulations on everything – sincerely proud of you and all your hard work.
Being invited to such a special event for an amazing person was an honor. So, you just need to be aware that your picture and interviews end up all over the internet and other places. All this is new, so hope your new management company is helping you know what you need to do in these kinds of formal events – you will have more to come and we of course love would love to see pics of you dressed up big time.
Just wanted you to know. Kind of over-protective I know, just can’t help it. Enjoy is all – you sincerely deserve it.
