David Archuleta spending Thanksgiving in New York!

Loving Archie is reporting about a recent article that apparently appeared in the print edition of the New York Post. We do not have a scan of the article, however here is a typed version of what the article said:

“This is the first year that “American Idol” runner-up David Archuleta won’t be spending Thanksgiving at home. He’s trading family tradition for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade — and he’s looking forward to the change.

At the ripe old age of 17, Archuleta tells us “the holidays are a time to look back at all the things you have and appreciate them — like family.”

Since he won’t be at his grandmother’s house eating the bizarrely named “funeral potatoes” — his favorite turkey accourtrement — he might have to swing by the turkey dinner before the parade.

As for the spectacle itself? “When I was younger I would watch the parade, but the only thing I remember are the balloons and the floats. I don’t remember any performers.” That said, he’s excited to perform his hit single “Crush” on the “Green Dog” float. “I can’t wait to see how big the balloons are in real life!” he adds.

When he’s not singing his heart out, he enjoys scoping out the Big Apple. He’s still a newbie to the city, since he’s been only three of four times.

On his last visit, Archuleta fell in love with the West Village. “Is that what it’s called?” he asks. “Yeah, that part of New York is really cool.”

Though he won’t be enjoying Grandma’s feast this year, Archuleta’s mother will be in New York with him, “so that’s really exciting because she rarely gets to travel.”

Editor’s Note: The float is sponsored by Greendog “A children’s clothing company”
